CAMEX and Me

The former First Timers Program has been revamped to introduce attendees of all levels to the benefits of the industry’s largest event. Being the new kid on the block, or coming to CAMEX solo, does not mean you’re in it alone. The CAMEX & Me program will allow you to meet up with other attendees and hear tips from CAMEX veterans to make your trip a success. Join us Thursday, March 1, 3:30-5:15 p.m. for this gathering to make your CAMEX a more engaging, rewarding experience. Registration is required but the event is free.

Pre-register by emailing NACS Registrar or register on-site at CAMEX Registration as space allows.

Before You Arrive

Before You Arrive

  1. Prep your personal itinerary with CAMEX Connect! Take the time to review educational session details and select your top 2 choices for each time slot. This way if your first choice is not what you expected, you can exit quietly and jump in on another session to maximize your time. CAMEX Connect syncs with the CAMEX Mobile App (available in January) so you can carry session details as you navigate to your next stop.

  2. Let CAMEX Connect match you with relevant exhibitors by adding key categories to your Connect profile. Then keep on task with scheduled exhibitor appointments through CAMEX Connect and your synced CAMEX App.

  3. Create a buying plan and complete any purchase orders you can ahead of time.

  4. Download the CAMEX App! Available in Jan., the CAMEX App will sync with CAMEX Connect to put necessary tools within reach as you navigate your CAMEX experience. Utilize the app to add to your schedule, create appointments, jot down notes, access session handouts, identify must-see booths, browse Show Specials, connect with others, vote for your favorites in the Hot Stuff Showcase and POP Display competitions, and receive important CAMEX alerts.

  5. Read your Campus Marketplace e-newsletter to learn when session handouts are available. Handouts are not distributed during the event but are posted for download in CAMEX Connect and The Hub. Be sure to bring a device with your digital copy or print the information ahead of time. Review the handouts and come with questions! Before you leave for CAMEX, check for any last minute session handouts available in CAMEX Connect and The Hub.

  6. If you're coming with coworkers, it's best to divide and conquer to get the most out of CAMEX education and exhibitor appointments. Be sure to schedule quick meetings throughout the conference to share takeaways and key points while they are fresh in your mind.

  7. Looking for a place to meet with coworkers, network, or plan deals with exhibitors? Meetings can be scheduled in the B2B Connection—Booth #1101, via CAMEX Connect.

  8. Bring your business cards and some of your colleagues who can't attend. Don't have any or don’t want to carry them around? Have a device with your vCard ready to share. Or even easier, use CAMEX Connect and the CAMEX Mobile App to share and gather contact information.

  9. In general, CAMEX is a business casual event but plan to dress in layers since temperatures will fluctuate throughout the day and from room-to-room. During March, Dallas average daytime temps are 57⁰- 68⁰F with evenings dipping between 34⁰- 46⁰F. Be sure to check the Dallas weather right before packing to make sure you have the right gear.

  10. Pack more than one pair of comfortable shoes. Switch your kicks each day to prevent blisters and sores. You're going to be getting in your 10,000 steps and then some!

  11. You're going to be putting some miles on those shoes—why not count them for a chance to win prizes? Pick up a pedometer at the NACS Foundation booth. A $10 donation gets you in the Set the Pace Challenge. The Foundation funds grants, education, and research initiatives that support the campus store industry.

  12. Bring a bag to carry a day's worth of necessities, samples, fliers, and contact info. Bring more than one pen, a note pad, your phone or tablet, business cards, a water bottle, and small snacks. Don't forget any daily meds to save yourself a trip back to your hotel. Start light, since you may accumulate things as you go.
